Costs:

Library cards are free to all residents living or owning property within the Yankton city limits. Those residing in Yankton County must pay $20 yearly (per household) for a library card. A non-resident card (those living outside of Yankton County) costs $40 per household annually. County and non-residents can purchase library cards in increments of three months, six months, or 12 months. Cards for teachers, homeschool caregivers, and Mount Marty University students are free.

Identification:

Individuals age 14+ need a photo ID and proof of current address to obtain a library card. Youth (birth through age 13) may have their own card with parent/guardian authorization. Cards renew annually.

Start your registration online here. It may take up to 2 business days for your card to be approved. A staff person will contact you by phone or email for additional information.

Books and audiobooks usually check out for three weeks, but occasionally there are exceptions for high-demand items. DVDs and magazines check out for one week.

Users can check item due dates and renew items online, through Librista, or by calling (605) 668-5275. 

There are no late fees for books or audiobooks. Overdue DVDs incur a fine of $1.00 per day per title. Users can waive late fees by donating a non-perishable food item to our Food for Fines program. If items are damaged, there is a fee to replace them.

• Library users with adult cards may check out 50 Books, 3 Wonderbooks, 10 Audiobooks, 10 Magazines, 5 Music CDs, and 4 DVDs (two of which may be TV series) at a time.

• Library users with youth cards may check out 50 Books, 3 Wonderbooks, 10 Audiobooks, 10 Magazines, 5 Music CDs at a time.
