Pet Licensing 

Yankton city ordinance requires that all dogs and cats are licensed annually. The licensing period runs one year from the purchase of the tag. A rabies vaccination record is required.

  • $5.00 for spayed/neutered 
  • $10.00 for not spayed/neuteredpetlicensing2

Licenses are available at the Yankton Police Department and the following local veterinary clinics: Animal Health Clinic, Veterinary Medical Clinic, and Lewis and Clark Veterinary Clinic. Please note that participating veterinary clinics may charge an extra administrative fee.

Golf Cart Permits

The City of Yankton requires that persons operating a golf cart on city streets and highways shall possess an annual permit at all times. The golf permit period runs for one calendar year, expiring on December 31st. 

Golf cart permits are $25 purchased at the Yankton Police Department.

For payments of pet licenses and golf cart permits: 

Payments are accepted in person when you purchase your pet license or golf cart permit. Cash, checks, and cards are accepted. Please note, there is a service fee of 2.9% added to card payments.
