You may dispose of unused or unneeded medication at the Safety Center at 410 Walnut Street. A white metal return container is available in the lobby, which is open 24/7. This free service requires no forms, and the premises are monitored.

 We Accept:Drug Collection

  • Prescription Patches
  • Prescription Medications
  • Prescription Ointments
  • Over-The-Counter Medications
  • Vitamins
  • Samples
  • Pet Medications

We Do Not Accept:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Thermometers
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Inhalers
  • Needles (Sharps) - these can be taken to the Yankton Transfer Station located at 1200 W 23rd Street
  • Medication from Businesses or Clinics
  • Ointments, Lotions or Liquids
    • To safely dispose of liquids, never pour them down the drain; instead, it is advisable to mix it with an absorbent material like cat litter in a sealed bag and throw it in the trash.

NOTE: Always follow the instructions on the product label for disposal guidelines.
