THE DAKOTA TERRITORIAL CAPITOL REPLICA BUILDING NEEDS YOUR HELP! 

For America's 250th anniversary, a City of Yankton taskforce is trying to raise funds to refurbish the Dakota Territorial Capitol Replica Building, located in beautiful Riverside Park. 

In 1988, the Yankton Sertoma Club began the design and construction of the replica, and it was completed in April of 1989.  On April 14, 1989, SD Governor George Mickelson made Yankton “Capital for a Day” and formally dedicated the replica.

After 36 years, the replica building is in need of:
  • New Siding
  • New Paint
  • New Windows
  • New Exterior Doors
  • Repairs to Chimney
  • Restore the Bell Chimes
  • New Wood Shakes
