Per City Ordinance 1100, effective January 1, 2026, the City of Yankton Municipal Election will be the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November.

MUNICIPALITY OF YANKTON
The following offices will become vacant due to the expiration of the present term of the elective officer:
Three (3) Commissioners each for a three (3) year term.

Petition circulation begins*Note: City Hall offices are closed for the federal holiday on July 3rd. A petition cannot be notarized or circulated prior to that date. Petitions can be picked up at the City Finance Office during normal business hours or can be printed directly from the SD Secretary of State's website.
