The City of Yankton utilizes semi-automated solid waste collection and single stream recycling.  Garbage is collected every week, and Recycling is collected every other week on your scheduled day.   Your Garbage and Recycling carts should be set out before 7:00 A.M. on the day of pickup.  The interactive map below allows customers to easily find their scheduled garbage and recycling days.

Listed below are the holidays that affect normal garbage and recycling collection. 

Holiday Collection Schedule

• Christmas Eve - December 24th, 2024: No Collection.  Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Monday, December 23, 2024.
• Christmas Day- December 25th, 2024: No Collection. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Thursday, December 26th, 2024. 
• New Year’s Day - January 1, 2025: No Collection. Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
• Presidents’ Day - February 17, 2025: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
• Memorial Day - May 26, 2025: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
• Independence Day - July 4, 2025: No Collection. Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
• Labor Day - September 1, 2025: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
• Veterans Day - November 11, 2025: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Monday, November 10, 2025.
• Thanksgiving Day - November 27, 2025: No Collection. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
• Day after Thanksgiving - November 28, 2025: Friday routes will be collected on Friday, November 28, 2025.
• Christmas Eve - December 24, 2025: No Collection. Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
• Christmas Day - December 25, 2025: No Collection. Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Friday, December 26, 2025.
