911 Dispatchers Logo The City of Yankton Communications Center is the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for residents of the City of Yankton, Yankton County, and a small portion of Northeast Nebraska along our southern border. Serving a population of approximately 22,500, we provide a vital link between our community and local emergency responders as the "first" First Responders for every incident.

Our eleven full-time team members are highly trained professionals who complete a minimum of 12 weeks of departmental training—including emergency medical, fire, and law enforcement dispatch certifications—prior to attending state certification training in Pierre, SD.

Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the Communications Center handles all emergency and non-emergency calls originating within our service area. In 2025, our dispatchers managed 20,049 calls for service, including:

  • 2,114 medical emergencies
  • 211 fire calls
  • 175 domestic violence calls
  • 66 injury accidents
