SENIOR SANITATION TRUCK OPERATOR 

The City of Yankton is currently accepting internal applications for the position of Senior Sanitation Truck Operator in the Solid Waste Division of the Department of Public Works.

An employee in this position is responsible for operating garbage and recycling trucks on established routes and acts as a crew leader and explains safety issues to crews.   This position makes sure routes are done on time and responds to inquiries and complaints from customers. This position preforms preventative maintenance on trucks and notifies appropriate personnel regarding water leaks, asphalt cracks, potholes, trees or power lines down and stalled or abandoned vehicles. This position assures ditches surrounding town are clean, explains to students the importance and proper way to recycle and will be on call as required.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, South Dakota Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements; two (2) years full-time truck driving, solid waste collection or maintenance work.

This is a regular full-time position.  The salary range for this position is $51,764 to $65,533 (Range 32) per year, plus benefits.
