911 COMMUNICATION SUPERVISOR

The City of Yankton is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Communications Supervisor in the 911 Center. This is a public service position, helping people when they need it most. Enjoy working with new technology while keeping up with an exciting work environment.

This position oversees the operation of the 911 Communications Center including coordinating the hiring process, recommending new communication personnel, supervising, training, policy and procedure development, scheduling and performs duties of a dispatcher as required.  The position requires the ability to operate a computer and applicable software. The ability to multi-task and communicate information over the radio and phone effectively and immediately is a must. This position is regular full-time shift work (which may include holidays and weekends) and requires a high school diploma or GED, three (3) years of dispatch experience and a South Dakota Telecommunications Certificate.  The salary range for this exempt position is $80,728 - $102,202 per year, plus benefits. The City of Yankton participates in the required State Retirement plan and matches the six percent (6%) employee contribution deduction. The City will provide a bi-weekly accrued amount up to two weeks of vacation (80 hours) per year and additional vacation thereafter based on years of service cumulatively from the 80-hour base. The City provides sick leave at a rate of 8 hours per month for a full-time employee which can be accumulated to 960 hours. The City has 11 paid (8 hours) holidays and three personal days to be used at any time throughout the year, pending supervisor approval.
