EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The City of Yankton is currently accepting internal applications for the position of Equipment Operator in the Street Division of the Department of Public Works.

An employee in this position is responsible for the efficient performance of tasks requiring the use of acquired knowledge in reconstruction of roads and assisting in blacktopping by shoveling gravel or raking behind a paver.  Work involves operating jackhammer, sand blaster, router or tar kettle as assigned. Work includes picking up debris with loader and trucks, installing signs, utilizing tractor and mower, sawing concrete and black top and laying storm sewer pipes or other work as assigned. This position will also assist in the street shop as assigned.

This position assists at the Transfer Station on Saturday as needed.  During the winter months, this position will help with snow removal operations.

Candidates must possess a valid South Dakota commercial driver’s license, Class B, or be able to obtain one.  Background experience in sanitation or maintenance work desirable and must be able to lift 50 pounds.

This is a regular full-time position.  The salary range for this position is $46,892 to $59,365 (Range 28) per year, plus benefits.
