Weekend at the Oscars

Subject: Weekend at the Oscars

 The Yankton Community Library (515 Walnut St.) will host its 12th annual Weekend at the Oscars on March 14–15, featuring four Oscar-nominated films. Free admission; no registration needed.

 The event begins Saturday, March 14, at 9:15 am with Hamnet (PG-13), nominated for best picture, actress (Jessie Buckley), and director. Based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, it follows Shakespeare and his wife Agnes as they grieve their son. Runtime: 2h 5m.

Marty Supreme (R), up for best picture, actor (Timothée Chalamet), and director, starts at 11:30 am. This drama follows a determined young man chasing ping-pong greatness. Runtime: 2h 30m.

Sinners (R) begins at 2:30 pm and leads the field with 16 Oscar nominations. Michael B. Jordan stars as twin brothers seeking redemption after their Mafia past. Horror, set in the 1930s. Runtime: 2h 17m.

Sunday, March 15, at 1:30 pm: One Battle After Another (R), nominated for best picture, actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), and director. This 3-hour thriller follows a paranoid ex-revolutionary protecting his family from a nemesis.

Popcorn from the Dakota Theater will be provided at the event! You are welcome to bring your own movie treats, too!
