This department provides continued education, curbside collection and handling of recyclable materials from City residents.
2012 Recycling Schedule
City of Yankton Street Department
The program will follow an “every other” week recycling collection schedule. The City of Yankton would also like to eliminate some of the confusion associated with solid waste and recyclable collection around the holiday season. The Finance Department has recycling calendars available for customers.
2012 Holiday Collection Schedule for Solid Waste and Recycling
New Year’s Day – January 2, 2012
Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
Memorial Day – May 28, 2012
Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
Independence Day – July 4, 2012
Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
Labor Day – September 3, 2012
Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Veteran’s Day Observed – November 12, 2012
Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
Thanksgiving Day – November 22, 2012
Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012.
Day after Thanksgiving – November 23, 2012
Friday routes will be collected on Friday, November 23, 2012.
Christmas Day – December 25, 2012
Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.
The City of Yankton hopes the calendar will make the curbside recycling more convenient for its customers. The City of Yankton would like to remind you to have your recyclables and solid waste set out before 7:00 A.M., on your scheduled collection days. The Solid Waste and Recycling Department allows two 33-gallon trash containers.
