Join Healthy Yankton as we cultivate the first Community Garden with a grant from the Avera Health Community Service Fund. The garden is being tilled along Yankton’s West City Limits Road on City land near the location of the former rodeo grounds.
Any group or individual can rent a 12 foot x 18 foot garden plot for $15. Gardeners are responsible to water and weed their plots and could utilize their produce as they see fit. Their bounty could be utilized to feed themselves, their friends and family or they can donate to a group in need. Gardeners provide their own garden tools. This fee includes pre-tilling and water for the growing season (mid-May to mid-October).
If you are interested in learning more about the garden and how to rent a plot please join us at our community forum to be held in the Avera Sacred Heart Pavilion Auditorium at 5:30pm on Wednesday, May 6th. We will provide a short presentation about the garden and then provide open registration on a first come first serve basis. You are not obligated to rent space by attending.
If you are not able to attend the forum, you may call 668-8590 for additional information.
