Welcome to the Yankton Police Department web site. The Yankton
department has fourty-eight members including two canines. Yankton is one
of the first and only cities in South Dakota to have an active "Amber Alert
System" in place. The department is also one of the only cities in the
area to have a canine unit that is trained in search and apprehension in
addition to drug detection. The department recently acquired a motorcycle
and boosts a unique DARE vehicle. T
The
department is pro-active and involved in extensive training not only for
officers , but also members of the community. Involvement includes the
DARE program, McGruff Program, ShoCap, Safety Town and various other
programs for education the children and adult members of the community.
