Planning Advance

Print

rtecThe City of Yankton is undertaking a multiphase process to facilitate planning for future needs and prioritizing resources and staff time.  The process will engage the public, elected officials, and staff in building a roadmap for what projects and activities are most important for the community in the near future and the long term.

Phase 1: The City Manager, Department Heads and other city staff will be meeting during the day on Thursday, January 5, 2017 with a professional planning consultant to outline major projects under way and in the planning stages as well as identifying future needs.

Phase 2: Community members will share their priorities and ideas with the consultant and City Commission on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Room 114 of the Technical Education Center, 1200 W. 21st St. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.  Those unable to attend can join the conversation on Twitter @cityofyankton and www.facebook.com/cityofyankton ‪#‎AdvanceYankton

Phase 3: The City Commission meet on Friday, January 6, 2017 to review and analyze the results of the staff and public input and share their own priorities.

Phase 4: All of the input and analysis will be gathered into a planning document that will be shared back to the community.   That planning tool can be used by both the City Commission, City Manager, and staff to help in guiding day to day decision making and resource allocation.

On-going reevaluation of priorities and resources is a part of all goal implementation processes.  The projects and activities outlined during this process will have to be regularly reexamined and rethought as time passes and change occurs in the community.
