Arbor Day Event

You are invited to the Arbor Day Festivities and the celebration of Yankton’s 34th year as a Tree City USA.

The festivities will be held along the Auld-Brokaw Trail, north of 15th Street, on Monday, April 23, 2018, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Six trees will be planted as part of the Arbor Day celebration during the first day of the Midwest Region Park and Recreation Conference which is being hosted in Yankton.  The Midwest Region is made up of South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming therefore the state tree from each state will be planted.  These trees will help provide shade and beautiful color to the trail green space for future generations.

The six trees have been donated to the City of Yankton by the South Dakota Parks and Recreation Association as they are a co-host for the Midwest Region Conference.

If you have questions, please contact the Department of Parks and Recreation Office at 668-5231.
